Uttar Pradesh is a state in India that is known for its rich history, culture and art. And it is in a bid to improve the tourism to the state that many festivals organized by UP tourism. There are different festivals that are organized in Uttar Pradesh which concentrate on different aspects of UP.

The Ganga Mahotasava that is held on the banks of the river Ganga in Varanasi is a five day festival. This festival is organized in a bid to promote Varanasi as the cultural capital of India. Classical style of Indian music and dance is emphasized here while providing visitors with an opportunity of witnessing exponents of Indian classical dance and music. This festival is organized so that it coincides with the Dev-Deepavali, which is the famous festival of lights of Varanasi.

Then there is the Taj Mahotsava, another festival organized by UP tourism, which is held in Agra to display the arts, culture, crafts and cuisine of the Braj area. This is an annual event held in Shilpgram and is a wonderful tribute to the skills of the master craftsmen of Agra and its nearby territories.

The other festival organized by UP tourism, worth a mention is the Ganga water ralley, which is held in Allahabad. This is a water sports festival that is packed with adventure sports like canoeing, kayaking and other water sports. This festival is organized every year, and provides the participants with a chance in indulging in various water sport activities.

Lucknow Mahotsava is another festival organized by UP tourism which is held in the capital of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow. It is celebrated between 25th November and 5th December where the elegance and splendor of the ancient city Awadh, Lucknow, is captured. You get to experience the culture of Lucknow with the colorful processions, Kathak dances, traditional dramas and sitar recitals with ghazals, thumri and qawalis displayed during the festival.

In addition to all this, there are also exciting events organized during the festival like cock fighting, ekka races, kite flying and other traditional village games. There are crafts put on display, and famous Nawabi cuisine that you can taste in the festival too. In addition to this, there are other festivals organized by UP tourism like Buddha Mahotsava in Sarnath and Ayurveda Jhansi Mahotsava in Jhansi that are worth a mention.
